Sassa is now paying December 2023 social grants to beneficiaries. The grant payment agency is set to distribute grants to over 18 million people over the next few days.

Types of Grants Distributed by Sassa

Sassa distributes several permanent grants to beneficiaries on a monthly basis. These grants include Older Persons pension grants, Disability grants, War Veterans grants, Care Dependency grants, Foster Child grants, Child Support grants, Child Support grant Top-Up grants, and Grant-in-aid grants.

Payment Schedule for December 2023

Individuals benefiting from disability grants and child support grants will have to wait until next week to get their grants, while beneficiaries of the Older Persons and Pensioners’ Grants will get theirs during the first week of December.

December Grant Payment Dates:

  • Older Persons/Pensioners’ Grant: Friday, 1 December 2023
  • Disability Grant: Monday, 4 December 2023
  • Children’s Grant: Tuesday, 5 December 2023
  • Note: The delay in payment for disability and children’s support grants is due to Sassa not processing grants on weekends.

Where to Collect Your Sassa Grant

Pick n Pay, Shoprite, Boxer, Usave, and Checkers are some of the retail outlets where social grant recipients can collect their grants.

Collection Options:

  • Sassa card at selected supermarkets (Pick n Pay, Boxer, USave, Checkers, and Shoprite)

Beneficiaries are advised not to rush to withdraw cash on the first day; the money will remain in the account until needed.

Using Your Sassa Gold Card

All grant recipients are reminded that SASSA Gold cards will not expire in December or subsequent months, ensuring continued grant payments after December 2023.

All Sassa Gold cards have been extended in validity by Postbank. At least 5.3 million cards were due to expire by 31 December 2023, alleviating concerns of beneficiaries whose cards were nearing expiration. Grant beneficiaries are now assured that their expired Sassa Gold cards do not need to be renewed.

Conclusion:

As Sassa begins its December 2023 grant payments, beneficiaries are reminded of the varied distribution schedule. With accessible collection points and the assurance of Sassa Gold cards’ extended validity, recipients can navigate the process with ease and confidence.
